2010 Dog of the Sea Contest
Do
you have what it takes to be the TOP DOG?
Demonstrate your skills and be the leader of the pack with Sea Dog Nights
DOG OF THE SEA CONTEST for 2010. Win fabulous prizes, claim notoriety and lead
the rest of us canines in next year’s Sea Dog's Gypsy Parade.
It doesn't take much, just be the mutt with the most, DOG POUNDS that is.
DOG
POUNDS are the currency of the realm and each individual who passes through Gate
will be given a small amount. There are hundreds of thousands of Dog Pounds in
play. Keep a tight grip on them as there are unscrupulous brigands lurking in
the shadows, ready and waiting to separate you from your booty. Deposit your
mullah in Da Bank (located in the Orc’s Belly Inn) and it will be
kept safe and secure. Any Dog Pounds occupying the general event site will be up
for grabs, but be aware, nothing can be taken from Gate, personal tents or
vendors!! In other words, once your
doggie dollars have been stashed in your tent, they are no longer at risk of
being thieved. Dog Pounds can also be used for bribery, skullduggery or trade.
Most of all their cumulative value will used to determine who amongst us is the
top dog, the mutt with the most, Sea Dog Night’s 2010 DOG OF THE SEA.
The
Dog of the Sea Contest officially begins Friday morning at 8 am and ends Sunday
at noon when all the booty is gathered and counted. The winner of the 2010 Dog
of the Sea Contest will be announced at Knotty Kourt on Sunday. Any scurvy
pirate can go for the title of Dog of the Sea. This pirate can beg, borrow,
steal, or have donated in their name more Dog Pounds than the rest of the pack.
Yet
all that cunning and bribery may not be enough to put you at the top. Have no
fear, pirates and their mates will have the opportunity to earn even more doggie
dollars by entering in several contests of skill and prowess. Not only will the
top 3 winners for each contest win some phenomenal loot to take home, they will
earn more dog pounds to use for themselves or to donate to others.. Listen for
Heralds during the event for updates and details of all the contests.

Are
you a lover and not a fighter, but still need the booty to win Dog of the Sea?
Well there may be a fighter out there who is not so much interested in
the Dog Pounds as they are in grabbing the loot and having their name go down
the annals of Sea Dog history as the 2010 Rapier Champion.

and he may be able to arrange a meeting of the minds.
Be prepared to beg, bribe or coerce that nimble fighter into winning the

Here
is your chance to capture your share of pirate spoils with the Dog of the Sea
Treasure Hunt. Thar be an incredible chest of riches displayed on Dockside
filled with enough plunder to quicken your black pirate heart. You’ll want a
piece of that action, but how do you get in on the loot? You can earn a share of
the treasure by using your wits and keenness to complete a series of puzzles and
riddles and find a limited number of treasure tokens. This contest is open to
all ages, young and old, teams or individuals, so grab your mates and collect
all the tokens you can. Treasure tokens are an entitlement to a share of the
treasure, but it is the sly dogs with the quick brains and the most tokens who
will get first pick of the booty.

when Dockside awakes, stop by the Scuttlebutt and get your first clue to finding
the elusive tokens, or track down the Treasure Master Danielle at Ignition
and she will send you on your way. Shares will be divvied up Sunday afternoon
(TBA-check at Scuttlebutt or listen for Herald) when the pirate with the most
tokens gets the first pick of the hoard. The plundering continues in rounds as
the last person to choose is eliminated and the first person chooses again, and
on down the line until the coffers are bare. Did I mention amongst the heap of
riches will be wads of cash, Dog Pounds that is, in the amounts of
$20,000, $13,000 and $7000. So take the bling or choose the bucks, just find

- How to
obtain
extra
dog pounds -
NEW
Along
with the official Dog of the Sea contests above, you can earn extra dog pounds
this year by participating in several different events, plots or plans. Grab
your maties, put your noggins together and increase your chances of being the
mutt with the most…..
Play with the Gypsies
Participate
in a winning way in the Gypsy Parade or show off your talent and flair in one of
the many events on the Gypsy Stage (located near the Orc Belly Inn) and earn
even more dog pounds for your stash.
Contact the Gypsy Queen or one of her bevy of beauties at the Gypsy Stage
to find out how to take your share of their treasure.
Locate the Money Couriers
There
will be several pirates scurrying about throughout the weekend with packets of
dog pounds upon their persons. The
packets will contain dog pound amounts ranging from $200 to $2000 dog pounds.
Meet a challenge of the couriers choice , one on one and you win the
packet of booty for your very own.
There is a catch. You must add $100 dog pounds (which must given the
courier BEFORE the challenge begins) to the packet per challenge. If you win,
you get your $100 bucks back plus the entire contents of the packet.
But BEWARE! If you lose the challenge, you lose the $100 bucks and you
will not be able to issue any challenges to any courier for 60 minutes.
You
got no bucks to throw in the kitty, or you are a straight up skinflint and don’t
want part with your booty? There is another way. If by hook or by crook and
devious pirate skullduggery you figure a way to remove the packet from the
courier without their knowledge or notice, the whole packet is yours free
and clear. But if you are caught, you must cough up the $100 bucks and forfeit
any hope of a challenge. Remember! Nothing can be removed from ANYONES personal
tent and the couriers cannot be attacked or harmed bodily unless it is
part of their challenge.
Bring in the Bounty
There
are several low life pirates, due to debits, deception or other such offenses
who are “WANTED” by the Sea Dog Nation. Be the first group or individual to
bring them to justice (Constables Court-details to be announced) and you will
receive the bounty on their heads. Be on the lookout for the mugs of these
notorious hooligans on the “Wanted Posters” which will be in evidence at several
locations on site. Bounty amounts will vary.
In
addition there is one very special heavy, shiny, symbolic item which is in
circulation that can boost your pocket book greatly. It will be on open display
at all times. Find it and bring it to Da Bank to reap your reward.
There
are many ways to reach your goal to become the 2010 Dog of the Sea.
See you at the games…..
